One of the world’s poorest countries, with family issues, unemployment, and limited water. The country is mountainous and has few roads.
History / Politics
Gained independence from Britain in 1966. Is a constitutional monarchy; Democracy has now matured after decades of instability. AIDS is among the highest in the world at 23%.
Has high percentage of Christians, but frustrations with poverty and poor infrastructure. Animist practices continue, such as ancestor worship, curses/charms, and use of magic. There are many Christians, but the country does not often act in a Christian manner.
Pray that the churches continue to grow and that new churches are planted. A deep revival is needed to address the AIDS problem and other chronic issues.
