History / Politics
Gained independence from France in 1960. A coup occurred in 2009, but a fair election occurred in 2014 and it is now a democracy.
Many Christians still practice witchcraft or ancestor worship. Several revivals have occurred throughout history, most recently in the 1980’s. The latest occurred primarily in the student population and among lay people. Mainline churches oppose the entry of charismatic churches.
Pray for the less reached areas and for Christian broadcasts in remote areas. Pray that political stability will occur and that the nation will develop economically. Pray that the traditional religious practices will be eliminated by Christians.
