History / Politics
Ten-year war for independence from Portugal ended in 1975. Marxist state until 1988, then civil war, and peace in 1995; Multiparty democracy now.
Government now advances democracy, economic, and religious freedom. Christian faith spread rapidly after the decades of war. Up to 80% of pastors have little or no formal training. Many more unreached people here than in almost any other African country.
Pray for continued religious freedom, reconciliation after war, and improvement of poverty. Pray for the training of pastors and outreach to unreached people. Pray for the problems of AIDS, malaria, post-war trauma, and poverty.
