Independent from Spain in 1811. Devastating wars (1864-1870 and 1932-1935) and dictatorships (1954-1989) hindered growth. Moving toward democratic and economic reforms, and nation is working with global business.

Pray for the continued integrity of the Catholic church to oppose corruption. Pray for unity among Catholics and evangelicals, and true worship of Christ. Pray that missionaries would increase and be effective in other countries.
