History / Politics
Was a British protectorate (1899-1968), but now has a strong monarchy with democracy. Constitution is disputed and monarchy’s vast wealth is an issue in such a poor country. Has a very high AIDS rate, with many orphans and loss of young adults.
Ministry needed for HIV-infected; Poverty and hunger are common problems. Has a solid evangelical church and a core of believers, but a higher number of females. Too many Christians still mix ancestor worship and witchcraft; Youth need discipleship.
Pray for quality ministries to the HIV-infected people in the nation. Pray for a greater spiritual response by the men in the evangelical church. Pray for greater purity of the church and the decrease of traditional African religion.
