Has had a socialist, authoritarian rule ever since with a poor management of economy. Chavez and current President Maduro have strong supporters and dissenters about equally. Lots of drugs and human trafficking pass though Venezuela.
Evangelical churches have been growing since the 1980’s; Unity in the churches is high. Only 10% of Catholics attend Mass; Animist cults and New Age religions are common. Both rich and poor visit witch doctors in thousands of spiritist and occult shops. Fewer people attend church here than any other Latin American nation. Amerindian evangelism was opposed by anthropologists, politicians, and some priests.
Pray for continued growth in Evangelicals and strong discipleship. Pray for true revival within the Catholic church. Pray that folk religions and visits to shaman would dramatically decrease.
